Saturday SlobberLove

sunbatherSometimes on Saturday, after our nostrils get the slightest hint of chilly air on our early morning walk, we like to take some time in the late afternoon to reminisce about what a wonderful summer we’ve had—roasting ourselves like a side of beef on the deck until we pant so hard it worries our mother, chiming in with the rest of the insane barking neighborhood dogs like we’re all part of an off-key orchestra, engaging in acrobatic skirmishes with wasps, flies, bees, spiders, moths and hornets the size of Wisconsin and attacking the bamboo leaves that fall into our lounging area outside as if they were monsters—we sniff it all in, right down into our belly and we take a moment to be thankful for all the fun because soon it will be all over and we’ll be forced to poop in the pouring rain again.

The Gus is the master of the Sun Belly pose. This allows for the maximum absorption of heat in the heatiest parts of the body.
